The Herbalist’s Library
The Herbalist’s Library is an herbal education collection created for anyone who wants to move beyond surface-level information and develop a deeper, more practical understanding of herbs and how to work with them.
Inside the library, you’ll currently find in-depth resources for 42 individual herbs, with each herb offering a combination of detailed PDF guides, educational videos, and hands-on remedy demonstrations.
Rather than simply giving you a list of what an herb is “good for,” The Herbalist’s Library is designed to help you truly get to know each plant, how to recognize it, how it behaves, how it has traditionally been used, and how you can work with it in everyday herbal practice.
Each herb includes two detailed PDF guides.
The first PDF is an in-depth herbal monograph that takes you through the plant from many different angles. You’ll learn the herb’s common name, Latin name, botanical family, and information about the plant family it belongs to. From there, you’ll explore how to identify the herb using its appearance, texture, aroma, and taste.
Taste is an especially important part of herbalism, so each monograph takes a closer look at the herb’s flavor profile and what that taste can tell us about the plant and the way it interacts with the body.
You’ll also learn how the herb grows, where it may be found, and whether it is commonly cultivated or foraged. When appropriate, you’ll find information to help you better understand how the plant can be identified in its natural environment.
Each monograph also dives into the herb’s active constituents, therapeutic properties, energetics, medicinal uses, and traditional applications. This allows you to look at the plant from both a practical and holistic perspective rather than memorizing isolated uses.
You’ll also explore the folklore, history, traditional stories, and cultural uses connected with many of the herbs. Herbalism is about more than constituents and preparations, and understanding the stories surrounding a plant can offer a richer appreciation for the role it has played throughout history.
The second PDF for each herb is focused on recipes and preparations.
These guides give you practical ideas for turning your herbal knowledge into something you can actually use. Depending on the herb, recipes may include preparations such as teas, tinctures, infused oils, salves, syrups, honeys, oxymels, and other traditional herbal remedies.
Each herb also comes with at least two videos, while most include four.
One video provides an in-depth overview of the herb, allowing you to learn alongside the written material in a more conversational format. The additional videos focus on remedies and preparations, showing you step by step how different herbal products are made.
This combination of written education and hands-on video demonstrations allows you to learn in more than one way. You can read through the monographs when you want detailed reference information, watch the educational videos when you want a guided explanation, and return to the remedy videos when you’re ready to make something yourself.
In addition to the 42 individual herb studies, The Herbalist’s Library also includes a small Herbalism 101 section covering foundational herbal concepts. This section is especially helpful for anyone newer to herbalism or for those who simply want a refresher on some of the basics.
You’ll also find a recipe section with additional herbal preparations and ideas that go beyond the individual herb lessons.
The goal of The Herbalist’s Library is not simply to tell you which herbs to use. It is to help you develop a relationship with the plants themselves—to understand their characteristics, their energetics, their traditional uses, their preparations, and the many different ways they can be incorporated into herbal practice.
Whether you are beginning your herbal journey, expanding your existing knowledge, or looking for a detailed reference collection you can return to again and again, The Herbalist’s Library gives you a place to explore herbs at your own pace.
With 42 herbs and counting, more than 80 PDF resources, dozens of educational and remedy videos, foundational herbal lessons, and a collection of recipes, The Herbalist’s Library brings years of herbal research, teaching, and hands-on experience together in one organized place.
It is a resource you can explore when you want to learn something new, revisit when you need a refresher, and keep nearby as your own personal herbal reference library.
