Calming Iced Latte Recipe
There are so many anxious people right now. Which isn’t surprising! There is so much going on in the world. Most of the food we are eating now does not support our nervous system and brain.
I am a huge fan of chamomile and lemon balm! Both are gentle but so effective! Both help strengthens the immune system and calms the nerves. I have been wanting to do a latte for a while with chamomile and lemon….however it’s August. I don’t know about you, but where I am, we have been in the 100s most of this summer. Drinking a hot latte doesn't seem too appealing. So why not make it iced?!
I added lavender and licorice root for taste.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups of your choice of milk.
1 to 2 tsp of Chamomile
1 to 2 tsp of Lemon Balm
1 tsp of Lavender
1 tsp of Licorice Root
Directions:
Pour milk into a small pan. Turn heat on medium-low.
Stir in Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Lavender, and Licorice Root.
Bring to a gentle boil. This is the most important part. Milk burns easily. If you bring it to a full on boil, it will make the milk taste nasty…it doesn’t matter what milk you use. Slow and steady wins the race.
While you are waiting for the milk and herbs to come to a gentle boil, grab a mason jar and fill it with ice. This next part is optional, but I like to throw my jar with ice in the freezer until I need it.
When your milk and herbs come to a gentle boil, turn the heat off, and let it steep for 5 minutes.
When the 5 minutes is up, grab your jar with ice. You don’t need a big funnel, but I find it easier. Place the funnel in a cup. Place the strainer on top. If you don’t have a funnel, that is okay, hold the strainer above the jar. Then strain your latte into your jar.
Enjoy!
I encourage you to make it your own. Some people are not a fan of lavender. If this is the case for you, you can substitute it with rose, or peppermint. You might also want to add cinnamon or cardamom to it. Everyone’s taste buds are different. Find what works for you.
